Our Parish Council purchased the old St Paul's Catholic Hall and adjoining land in July 2011 to prevent the loss of a community facility in the parish.
Following extensive consultation, the parish council gained planning permission for a new community centre with a large hall, medium size hall and a meeting room.
All consultations showed a keen interest for improvements to facilities for the parish.
Herne & Broomfield Parish Council was formed in May 1996 and gained Quality Council status from 2006 until 2016, when it decided not to enter again due to rising costs with little benefit.

The Public Works Loan has been approved and BEC Construction Ltd has been awarded the contract to build the new Centre.
Seven companies tendered for the project, each one was examined by the council's quantity surveyor, Betterage & Milsom, to check that they were compliant and were quoting like for like. Two companies were interviewed post tender before the final choice was made.
Work is due to begin on Monday 3rd April to build the new access ramp and alterations to the kitchen of the old hall, which will be out of action for about a week. They will also make an entrance from the public car park, which will be Herris fenced when completed.
The hall car park will still be usable, until they start the main building work at the end of May.
It is intended that the existing hall will continue to be used during the build, albeit with the different access and smaller kitchen space.
The old hall will be demolished when the new building is usable.
We apologise in advance for any inconvenience that users and residents may have to bear during the year it is expected to take to complete the project.
We are currently looking at kitchen equipment and other fittings for the new building.
We have been offered some office equipment/desk but have nowhere to store it until the new building is open. Does anyone have storage space in their spare room or garage, so we can take advantage of this offer?
Our parish council would love to hear from anyone who wishes to help raise funds to fit the new building out 01227 742700
