As you may know, for some time the Herne and Broomfield Parish Council have been looking into different ways to provide the community with a state-of-the-art community centre facility.
After reviewing the current community hall, it was decided with your help, that the best way of doing this would be to build a new hall on the current site. The planning application was approved in August 2014. Thank you to everyone who wrote in support of our application.
The new Community Centre will have a large main hall (for up to 150 people), with a smaller hall, as well as a circular meeting room. It will also have a much larger kitchen than the current hall and the addition of fully accessible toilets and family room. Along with these improvements, there will be a reception area with seating, making it more of a venue to hold events. The outside design can be seen above.
As the current hall is almost constantly in use, it will hopefully be left intact during most of the construction of the new centre, meaning there will be a hall available to use throughout most of the process, although access will be different.
Our parish council is on the verge of appointing a contractor to build our new community centre in Herne.
7 Tenders received
Herne & Broomfield Parish Council invited suitable building contractors to tender for the construction of the new Herne community centre. The tender period was from 21st November 2016 until noon 16th December.
7 tenders were received and have been checked by our Quantity Surveyors to make sure that they are compliant and like for like.
The council is due to decide which contractor will be chosen on 16 February 2017.
